Dear Hailey,
We are so proud of you, we never thought that you would win in the competition. We always told you that you are going for a performance/recital, and you were so disappointed there was no “stage.” It was only a room with a grand piano. When they announced that you have won the 3rd prize, I thought Daddy has tears in his eyes. We just wanted to give you chance to do things that we did not have when we were young.

Chloe really likes Barney, and she is trying to sing the “Barney Song.” Replaced the lyrics with her own words.Chloe singing Barney song
Hailey was not as happy as I thought when I told her there would be no school for 2 weeks. I went to pick up her homework and she told me that she really wanted to go to school. We went with her friend, Bianca today to the piano class and she probably dying for someone to play with, she even agreed to sleep in Bianca’s home for a night. I was a bit sad because she was not even 5, and she already wanted to go for a slepe-over already. Nick said that it was good because that meant she was very independent. However, I thought that it was really sad.
Today, Hailey had her first Ballet Exam. To be fair, it was not really an exam, more like an assessment that was going to pass anyway, but she was really happy with her hair and her look. I am so proud of her too, she looked so “grown up” in her Ballet outfit. I thought she looked very pretty.

Hailey looked so grown up!
She threw up in the car on the way to school. Cried really badly not because she was not feeling well, but because her hands were full of her sickness and were dirty. Went home, changed her and took her to the doctor. Very co-operative because the doctor offered her a candy. She had a bit temperature and a sore throat. She was happy in general, but just could not go to the swimming class.
School holiday again on the 29th of May. We went to Elements to pick up Nick from work and Hayden came down and played with Chloe and Hailey. Hailey always get on well with other children and after we left, Hailey kept asking when could we see Hayden again.
Hailey dressed up as a cowgirl in school birthday party on the 22th of May. We bought that outfit in Texas and she really enjoy showing it off to her friends as the birthday party theme was “Culture costumes.”
When she walked to school, we asked her if her boots were comfy, she said “ok.” Which meant not ok, but she still insisted to walk in them.
Usually when I took Chloe out, people were really surprised how curly her hair was. They would said that how lovely her hair was and was it natural, that sort of question. BUT I wanted to tell you was: How messy it was in the morning. She looked like the North Korea President with ridiculous curly hair. To prove my statement, this was how she looked in the morning.
Chloe came to me and said she was hot (not really, but she came and had a sweaty head). I was drinking a soda, so I decided to put the empty can in her clothes. She really liked it and would not let me take it out from her. Which was very cute.
I read an article said that a baby this age should wear one less layer than us to prevent overheat, but our Chinese culture will always overdress the baby and this could not be very healthy. For Chloe, I could not overdressed her anyway, she just will not let us do that to her. She will be screaming and refused to put clothes on. She has already picked her clothes and refused some of them.
They did it on last Tue 12th May and they were so proud of it! When I looked at picture like this, I could not help but think that what will happen in 10 years time: Will they still be best friends? Will we still live in HK? Will the mommies still in touch? Lets hope that their friendship will continue and so as the mommies.
